A highly regarded boutique law firm is seeking a talented IP, Media & Entertainment Transactional Associate to join its growing New York office.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer looking to build their career within a specialist practice advising clients across the intellectual property, media, entertainment and technology sectors.
The successful candidate will work on a broad range of sophisticated transactions for innovative businesses, creators, rights holders and emerging companies operating across the creative industries.
Offering significant responsibility, direct client exposure and high-quality work from day one, this role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys being closely involved in deal-making and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The Role You will support and lead transactions across a wide range of industries and content platforms, including:
Film and television
Streaming and digital media
Podcasts and audio content
Publishing
Theatre and live entertainment
Sports and promotional ventures
Marketing and advertising
Technology and digital products
Intellectual property licensing and exploitation
Commercial and corporate transactions
Working closely with partners and clients, you will play an active role in transactions from initial structuring through to negotiation, execution and post-completion matters.
Key Responsibilities Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial, media and IP-related agreements
Manage transactions from inception through to completion
Advise clients on deal strategy and commercial objectives
Collaborate with partners and colleagues on complex matters
Maintain strong client relationships through responsive and practical advice
Monitor legal and commercial developments impacting client industries
Manage multiple matters while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
Candidate Profile Admission to the New York Bar (required)
Approximately 2-3 years of transactional legal experience
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical and commercial judgement
Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
Strong organisational and project management skills
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team culture
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to client service
Desirable Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
Intellectual property transactions and licensing
Media and entertainment agreements
Technology and digital media transactions
Commercial contracts
Corporate and business transactions
Content production, distribution and exploitation arrangements
