Marketing & Communications Specialist, Partnership and Workforce

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Marketing & Communications Specialist, Partnership and Workforce at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose
Provide comprehensive marketing and communications support for the Office of Partnerships & Workforce (P&W)to enhance the visibility, engagement, and impact of its offices, programs, services, and university-wide initiatives. Develop and implement marketing and communications activities that promote student success, career-engaged learning, workforce partnerships, international recruitment, global engagement, undergraduate research, executive and professional education, and other strategic priorities of the division. Create content for print, web, email, social media, and other communications channels; support branding, digital communications, and outreach efforts; and collaborate with university leadership and campus partners to ensure consistent messaging across multiple audiences. Reports to the Vice Provost or designee.

Marketing & Communications
Develop and implement marketing and communications activities that support the offices, programs, services, and strategic priorities of Partnerships & Workforce. Coordinate marketing campaigns across print, web, email, social media, presentations, and other communication channels while ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
Digital Communications
Maintain and update websites, digital content, social media platforms, email marketing, and other communication channels. Monitor communication metrics and recommend improvements to increase audience engagement and effectiveness.
Project Coordination & Collaboration
Coordinate marketing and communications projects across multiple offices within Partnerships & Workforce. Collaborate with University Marketing & Communications and campus partners to support recruitment, outreach, events, programs, and strategic initiatives. Build productive relationships with faculty, staff, students, employers, alumni, community organizations, and external stakeholders.
Content Development & Storytelling
Research, write, edit, and produce news stories, feature articles, web content, newsletters, reports, presentations, speeches, talking points, email communications, and social media content. Coordinate photography, video, and other multimedia content that highlights the impact of Partnerships & Workforce programs, services, partnerships, and university
Administrative Support & Special Projects
Track communication activities, maintain marketing calendars and content libraries, assist with vendor coordination, and support special projects as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.
Experience

Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)
Requires three to four years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, public relations, digital communications, or a related field.
Experience in higher education, nonprofit, workforce development, or public sector communications is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent written, editing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to develop content for print, web, presentations, newsletters, email campaigns, and social media.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, university leadership, and external partners.
Experience managing websites, content management systems, social media platforms, email marketing, and digital communications.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and marketing and communications technologies. Experience with graphic design, photography, videography, analytics tools, and emerging communications technologies preferred.
