Team Lead, Business Development – Americas/ Utilities & Energy Verticals
Remote (USA) | Full-time | Permanent
About the Company
We're partnering with a well-funded, fast-scaling satellite intelligence company that sits at the intersection of space technology and AI. Their platform turns earth-observation data into actionable risk insights for the operators of the world's critical infrastructure (think electric utilities and midstream pipeline operators) helping them get ahead of wildfire risk, outages, and pipeline incidents before they happen.
Backed by strong Series B funding and already gaining real traction with major infrastructure operators, the business is now investing seriously in building out its commercial engine across North America.
The Role
This is a genuine player-coach opportunity, not a desk-bound management role. You'll carry your own outbound quota into named strategic accounts across utilities and pipeline operators, while building and leading a small, ambitious BDR team around you. You'll be the first line of pipeline generation for the Americas business, working closely with regional sales leadership, marketing, and pre-sales, with real visibility into how GTM strategy takes shape as the team scales.
You'll be responsible for:
Leading and developing the team
- Coach and inspire a small BDR team to consistently exceed pipeline targets
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and growth through 1:1s, call reviews, live shadowing, and structured feedback
- Track performance against KPIs and support hiring/onboarding as the team scales
Carrying your own number
- Prospect personally into named strategic accounts across electric utilities and midstream pipeline operators
- Run multichannel outbound (cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and industry events)
- Test new messaging, sequences, and channels yourself before rolling them out to the wider team
- Represent the company at industry conferences and trade shows
Shaping the North American pipeline strategy
- Design and evolve outbound strategy for the region, informed by market trends, ICP data, and campaign performance
- Own quarterly planning and reporting for regional pipeline goals
Owning the tech stack
- Manage the team's sales engagement and CRM tooling (e.g. HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Lemlist)
- Partner with RevOps/IT to continuously improve workflows and tooling as the function matures
What You Bring
Must-haves:
- 3+ years of enterprise B2B business development experience, including at least 1 year in a team lead, senior BDR, or player-coach capacity
- Hands-on BDR/SDR experience selling into utilities or critical/asset-heavy infrastructure (electric utilities, oil & gas/midstream pipeline, rail, or similar)
- A demonstrable, quantifiable track record generating pipeline as an individual contributor and genuine enthusiasm for continuing to prospect personally while scaling a team
- A natural coach who's able to motivate a team and build a culture of accountability and growth
- Strong communication skills and comfort operating in diverse, multicultural teams
- Willingness to travel domestically (~25%) and internationally (roughly twice a year)
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience selling geospatial, satellite/EO, remote sensing, LiDAR, or GIS-adjacent solutions
- Familiarity with vegetation management, wildfire mitigation, pipeline integrity, or long-cycle regulated-utility sales
- A track record of building a BDR function from scratch, rather than inheriting a mature one
- Experience in a Series A-C startup or scale-up environment
- Additional languages, particularly Spanish
