The Social Media Strategist will implement tactics and lead the strategic vision for social and digital media across all platforms for LDF. The role develops and executes content strategies that grow audience engagement, strengthen brand visibility, and support organizational priorities. Working closely with communications, program, and legal teams, the Strategist ensures messaging is timely, coordinated, and aligned across channels. The role may also require occasional travel to capture content at organizational events, programs, etc. This position also analyzes performance metrics and emerging trends to continuously refine strategy and maximize impact. LDF operates in a hybrid work environment where employees are expected to be in the office a minimum of two days per week, unless otherwise indicated.

Responsibilities

Work closely with Director, Digital Strategy to develop and implement digital and social media engagement strategies. Maintain LDF’s social media platforms (across Facebook, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) and ensure that information is posted regularly, correctly in a way that is user-friendly and engaging.

Create consistent and meaningful graphic and video content as part of various social media plans. Develop platform-specific social media strategies. Plan, manage, and execute LDF's social media strategy across all platforms.

Grow LDF and executive leadership's social presence and content creatively across all social media channels on a day-to-day basis, including, but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Analyze trends on a weekly basis and respond to breaking news by conceptualizing and creating content to amplify LDF and messages online.

Track, report, and interpret data analytics on a biweekly and monthly basis and provide informed recommendations for new strategies and tactics to promote LDF and educate the public.

Conduct active social listening and maintain engagement (community management) with LDF's digital audiences.

Monitor social media for coverage of issues affecting LDF and craft appropriate messaging.

Monitor developments in social tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy, and provide recommendations to increase effective engagement.

Work with cross-organizational teams and national coalition partners to develop joint strategies for social media campaigns.

Maintain relationships with social media and digital campaign staff of coalition partners.

Conduct regular audits of LDF’s social media to inform strategic planning and short- and long-range goals.

Other duties as assigned within the general scope of the position.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Minimum of 5 years of direct experience

Highly motivated and reliable with exceptionally professional demeanor and excellent judgment regarding confidentiality, sensitive information, and discretion;

Commitment to civil rights and racial justice mission of LDF;

Understanding and appreciation of LDF’s standing as a historic, legacy organization;

Excellent writing and communication skills;

Fluency in MS Office suite of products, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat and other commonly used software;

Ability to present dense and complex information in easily digestible format;

Strong analytical skills;Strong interpersonal skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, community members, and external partners;

Excellent attention to detail, including advanced proofreading and editing skills;

Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a high-paced environment;

Proactive problem solver when faced with challenging circumstances;

Flexibility with work schedule to meet the demands of a dynamic legal organization;

Team player who can also work independently;

About the Role
As a Paid Social Strategist, you’ll own the day-to-day strategic direction and performance of paid social programs across a portfolio of clients. You’ll serve as a trusted client partner, turning data into actionable recommendations, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring our strategies continuously evolve alongside consumer behavior, creative performance, and the platforms themselves.

What you’ll do:

Own the day-to-day paid social strategy and performance narrative for your accounts, connecting media performance to broader client goals

Develop full-funnel strategies across platforms, including budget allocation, platform roles, audiences, campaign structure, creative, and optimization priorities

Serve as a trusted client-facing expert, proactively bringing forward recommendations, opportunities, and clear points of view

Analyze performance to identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities, translating data into clear insights and actionable next steps

Develop learning agendas and testing roadmaps across creative, media, audiences, measurement, and emerging platform opportunities

Partner with Activation and cross-functional teams to ensure execution aligns with strategy, providing hands‑on campaign and QA support when needed

Maintain strong operational ownership across budget pacing, forecasting, campaign accuracy, and overall account health

Build strong relationships with platform partners to identify strategic opportunities, new capabilities, and ways to continuously advance client programs

Strong budget management, forecasting, and organizational skills with a high degree of accountability and attention to detail

Ability to take initial direction and quickly transition to an independent, proactive working style

Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, including comfort working with pivot tables and large datasets; platform and digital marketing certifications are a plus
