Position Overview

The Content Marketing Manager develops and manages original photo, video, and written content across Serra's communications channels. Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, this position advances Serra's institutional narrative through audience-focused visual and written storytelling across social media, the school's website, and communications supporting admissions, advancement, and alumni relations. The ideal candidate combines strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts with the ability to build relationships in a dynamic school environment, manage an integrated content calendar, and develop scalable workflows that expand the marketing office's content capacity across the Serra community.

Key Responsibilities

Storytelling and Content Development

Identify and develop audience-relevant stories that reflect the full Serra student and alumni experience across academics, athletics, faith and service, extracurricular activities, and student life

Create and publish feature content highlighting student and alumni achievements at Serra and beyond, including academic accomplishments, extracurricular pursuits, career milestones, and athletic recognition

Partner with enrollment, advancement, alumni relations, academics, and student life to maintain an integrated annual editorial calendar that identifies content opportunities and coordinates the timely capture and distribution of key moments throughout the school year

Coordinate cross-functionally to source interviews, testimonials, archival assets, and other supporting materials for ongoing content development.

Social Media Strategy and Channel Management

Manage and grow Serra's presence on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube through platform-specific content planning and audience engagement

Conceptualize, produce, and publish static images, Reels, Stories, and short-form video optimized for each platform, audience, and communication objective

Track platform performance and apply engagement data and content insights to refine channel strategy and inform future content decisions.

Visual Content Production

Capture high-quality photo and video assets at school events, athletic competitions, campus ministry activities, student life moments, and academic settings

Produce and edit short-form video content formatted for social media and other digital channels

Maintain a searchable and organized digital asset library of photography and video content for efficient cross-channel use

Develop a structured process to identify, recruit, and coordinate a network of content contributors across the Serra community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni

Build and maintain a collaborative content creation program that expands the reach, consistency, and production capacity of the marketing and communications office

Establish editorial guidelines, submission workflows, brand requirements, and quality standards for contributor-generated content

Brand and Messaging Alignment

Apply Serra's brand identity, editorial standards, and visual guidelines consistently across content and communications

Ensure all messaging reflects the school's Catholic mission, institutional voice, and communication priorities

Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to translate the content needs of admissions, advancement, and alumni relations into coordinated deliverables

Website and Email Content

Plan, create, update, and optimize website content in Finalsite, both proactively and in response to departmental needs

Develop and contribute audience-focused email content for current and prospective families, alumni, and donors using Constant Contact

Campaign and Event Content Support

Develop campaign content supporting fundraising and donor stewardship initiatives, including the Padre Fund, President's Circle, ThanksGIVEday, the Serra Golf Classic, and the Fund a Dream Scholarship Benefit

Support school and Advancement events during the academic year and capture relevant content opportunities

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field

Three to five years of relevant experience in content marketing, digital communications, social media strategy, or a related field

Demonstrated editorial judgment and storytelling ability, including identifying a compelling angle, developing a clear narrative, and adapting content to the appropriate channel and audience

Strong photography skills with experience capturing content in fast-moving, real-time environments such as athletic events, performances, and student activities

Experience producing and editing platform-appropriate video content for social media, including Reels and Stories

Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools to improve content workflows, productivity, and production capacity, with examples of specific tools and measurable results

Adaptability and sound judgment in an environment with shifting priorities and evolving workflows

Experience developing or managing contributor networks, editorial workflows, or collaborative content-production processes

Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and independently manage multiple concurrent content projects
