Media Relations Manager

About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Media Relations Manager to lead their communications efforts in Welkom . This senior role is responsible for developing and executing media strategies, building and nurturing relationships with key media contacts, and managing the organization's public image. You will serve as a primary spokesperson, handling media inquiries and coordinating press conferences to ensure positive and accurate media coverage. This hybrid position allows for essential in-person collaboration while retaining flexibility for external engagement.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute strategic media relations plans to achieve organizational objectives.
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with journalists, editors, and media influencers.
Proactively pitch stories and secure positive media coverage in local, national, and international outlets.
Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and serve as a company spokesperson when necessary.
Manage crisis communications situations effectively, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
Oversee the creation of compelling press materials, including press releases, media kits, and talking points.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism.
Demonstrated track record of securing high-profile media placements.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with expertise in crafting persuasive messages.
Proven ability to manage complex media environments and crisis communications.
