Help develop a new technical textbook (~130,000 words) built on a client's original vulnerability research framework. A hands‑on authoring role for a writer who has been “in the trenches” and can translate complex exploit chains and security architectures into clear, teachable content. Project-based, roughly 60–90 days, part‑time against chapter milestones.
What you'll do
Technical authoring: draft, write, and edit chapters that turn the client's vulnerability research framework into structured, pedagogical content for students and professionals.
Research integration: build on the client's evolving dissertation and research, ensuring accuracy in areas like memory corruption, web‑based attacks, exploit development, and network protocol analysis.
Tables & exercises: develop supporting tables and reader exercises that reinforce the framework and methodology.
AI‑collaborative research: use generative AI (e.g. Gemini, Claude) to accelerate research and drafting while keeping the writing human‑authored — verifying and fact‑checking all AI output.
Version control & visibility: keep an up‑to‑date draft in a shared environment (e.g. Overleaf/LaTeX) so the client has continuous visibility into progress.
Quality & integrity: edit for clarity, structure, and accuracy to meet academic standards, maintaining an audit trail that distinguishes human‑written from AI‑supported content.
What we're looking for
Extensive professional cybersecurity experience, specifically in vulnerability research (VR) and ethical hacking.
Proven track record in cybersecurity roles at private companies or federal/defense agencies.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex security concepts into clear, structured, pedagogical prose; comfort with formal academic structures.
Proficiency using LLMs to accelerate research, paired with a commitment to human‑focused writing — AI as a tool, not a replacement for authorial voice.
Ability to independently own assigned chapters and deliver against milestones.
Native‑level English fluency with an uncompromising eye for detail.
Nice to have
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or OSCP.
Experience with LaTeX/Overleaf, or willingness to ramp up quickly.
Prior textbook, courseware, or long‑form technical authoring.
Writing samples that explain the how and why behind a specific vulnerability or exploit.
