Junior Signage Designer

Salary: $50,000–$58,000 per year, depending on experience
TYKO Sign Group is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Signage Designer to join our design and production team in Los Angeles.
With more than 45 years of experience in the signage industry, TYKO designs, manufactures, coordinates, and installs signage projects for clients across the country. We work on a wide variety of projects, from building signs and illuminated channel letters to monument signs, architectural signage, and environmental graphics.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior designer who wants to develop practical, real-world design skills in a specialized industry. We are willing to train the right candidate in our signage design standards, production requirements, and established workflows.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and revise signage layouts using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Develop accurate, scaled drawings and production-ready design files.
- Verify dimensions, measurements, specifications, typography, and layout details.
- Review drawings and project documents to identify discrepancies before files are released for production.
- Follow project instructions, incorporate feedback, and maintain consistency through multiple revisions.
- Review previous projects and apply established design standards and procedures.
- Organize files, track revisions, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
- Coordinate with designers, project managers, and other team members.
- Use AI-assisted tools when appropriate to improve efficiency and support design workflows.
- Occasionally participate in site surveys, field measurements, or client meetings.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A solid understanding of typography, layout, composition, and visual hierarchy.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to catch errors and inconsistencies.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
- The ability to follow instructions, retain project requirements, and apply feedback consistently.
- Practical problem-solving skills and good judgment.
- A willingness to ask questions, learn from experienced designers, and improve continuously.
- Clear communication and the ability to work collaboratively.
- An interest in understanding how designs translate into real-world signs, materials, dimensions, and fabrication requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree, certificate, or relevant training in graphic design or a related field.
- Experience with signage, environmental graphics, architectural drawings, fabrication, or print production.
- Familiarity with scaled drawings, measurements, material specifications, and production files.
- Experience using AI-assisted design tools.
