Social Media Coordinator

The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery · Multiple locations ·

Job type:
Seasonal

Social Media Coordinator The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is Charlotte's oldest brewery, founded on the German brewing tradition and the Reinheitsgebot (the 1516 Bavarian Purity Law). We brew German-style beers and operate two Brauhaus restaurant locations — our original home in LoSo and our second location in Ballantyne — with a third under construction in Mount Holly. We also have an outpost at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Our beer is sold exclusively in the Carolinas.
Our brand is confident, rooted, and unfussy. We take the beer seriously and we take the experience seriously — the biergarten, the food, the community. We are not chasing trends. We are building something that lasts.
We're looking for a Social Media Coordinator to own OMB's digital presence across Instagram, Facebook, our website, and any other digital channels. This is an entry-level position, but entry-level at OMB means you're running the show — you'll be the person responsible for how our brand shows up online every single day.
You'll create content, manage our social channels, maintain the website, and tell the story of what makes OMB different. You'll work across both Brauhaus locations and collaborate with our kitchen, taproom, events, and leadership teams to capture and share what's happening at OMB in a way that's authentic, consistent, and drives people through the door.
This role is based at our LoSo location but requires regular presence at Ballantyne and, once open, Mount Holly. Some evening and weekend work is expected — our busiest, most content-worthy moments happen when the biergarten is full, the music is playing, and the sun is setting.
Social Media (Primary Focus)
Plan, create, and publish content across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook — Reels, carousels, static posts, and stories
Develop and maintain a weekly content calendar with a consistent posting cadence of 5–7 posts per week
Shoot and edit short-form video (Reels) on location at both Brauhaus restaurants and the brewery
Oversee paid ad campaigns via Meta Business Suite while maintaining local search visibility and profile management through Google Business Profile
Write captions that sound like OMB — warm, direct, and grounded in who we are
Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and tagged content in a timely, on-brand manner
Build and manage a user-generated content program: encourage guest content, reshare the best of it, run occasional contests or campaigns
Track performance metrics (engagement rate, reach, Reel views, DM shares, follower growth) and provide monthly reporting to leadership
Stay current on platform changes, algorithm updates, and emerging best practices
Website & Digital Channels
Maintain and update OMB's website (ombbeer.com) with current menus, hours, events, and seasonal content
Ensure consistency between social media, website, and third-party listings (Google Business, Yelp, Untappd, etc.)
Coordinate with any external web developers or agencies as needed for site updates or redesigns
Manage OMB's presence on review platforms and respond to reviews where appropriate
Brand & Collaboration
Work with the kitchen, taproom, and events teams to stay ahead of what's happening at each location and capture content proactively
Support event promotion for recurring events (live music, brunch, Wine Wednesdays) and major tentpoles (Mecktoberfest, Christmas Market)
Coordinate with local influencers, media contacts, and community partners for content collaborations
Contribute to social campaigns around new locations, seasonal beer releases, and special initiatives
Protect and reinforce OMB's brand voice and visual identity across all digital touchpoints
Who You Are
Required
1–2 years of experience managing social media accounts for a brand, business, or organization (internships and freelance count)
Demonstrated ability to create quality short-form video content (Reels, TikTok, or equivalent) — we'll ask to see examples
Strong writing skills with an ear for brand voice — you can adapt your tone without defaulting to generic marketing-speak
Working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, and social media scheduling and analytics tools (Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, or similar)
Comfortable with basic photo and video editing tools (CapCut, Canva, InShot, Lightroom Mobile, Adobe, or similar)
Self-directed and organized — you can manage a content calendar and hit deadlines without being micromanaged
Reliable transportation and willingness to work across multiple locations in Charlotte
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for content capture during peak hours and events
Preferred
Experience in food & beverage, hospitality, or brewery/restaurant industry
Familiarity with website content management systems (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar)
Photography skills or experience with food/product photography
Interest in craft beer, German brewing culture, or the Charlotte food and drink scene
Experience managing social media for a multi-location business
Basic understanding of SEO and how social content supports search visibility
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field (not required — we care more about your portfolio than your diploma)
What We Offer
$50,000 Annually
Medical, Vision, Dental, and Long-term Disability insurance
401k Retirement planning with 4% match after 1 year
A beer allowance (obviously)
Employee discount on food, beer, and merchandise
A seat at Charlotte's oldest brewery, surrounded by people who care about what they make and how they make it
The chance to shape the digital presence of a growing, multi-location brand during a pivotal expansion phase
Creative autonomy — this isn't a role where someone else tells you what to post every day
