What we do:
The Manager Experimental Design, Testing is responsible for overseeing a team of engineers and technicians who work on the mechanical structure, mechanism, and system design for testing in support of the long-term goals of the Test, Evaluation & Certification (TEC) Group. The Manager Experimental Design, Testing provides guidance and approval for technical approaches, products, and processes involved in testing, and works closely with the testing design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases. This role is heavily involved in building prototypes and flight test aircraft and will implement design solutions to support the installation of test instrumentation data-gathering systems to meet test program objectives. Collaboration with the technical development team is also crucial to this role. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and creating standard processes and procedures within the field.

What you can do:
Design mechanical and structural testing systems using engineering principles and creative thinkingDesign mechanical and structural systems and products based on given and derived testing requirementsParticipate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, providing guidance as neededIdentify process deficiencies and develop solutions for improvementPrepare and author various manuals/templates such as design standards, procedures, work instructions, and processesEnsure compliance with safety and regulatory standards as requiredLead the efforts to procure hardware to support group functionsImplement and complete multiple projects simultaneouslyDevelop and engage employees through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluationsIdentify growth opportunities and assignments that fit individual and company needsPartner with PMO organization to implement build planUp to 25% of domestic and international travelOther duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field requiredMinimum ten (10) years experience in mechanical design (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)Minimum five (5) years of experience in a managerial or team lead roleExperience in aircraft or automotive instrumentation designExperience with project management, development programs, and prototypingExperience in creating 3D models of design details using CatiaExperience in crafting CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and sheet metal componentsAbility to solve complex mechanical design problemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProactive delivery of communication and follow upExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailMust have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraintsProficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite

Experience in flight test instrumentation preferred

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
The pay range for this position is:$192,400—$289,120 USD
