Cable Network Ranker: Week of May 13

The NBA playoffs propelled TNT to an overwhelming lead in last week;’s cable network ranker, but the slow bubbling of political scandal kept Fox News in the top five, even as CNN and MSNBC dipped.

Fox News placed 3rd among all cable channels in primetime and total day, averaging 2.10 million viewers and 1.34 million viewers, respectively. CNN placed 34th in primetime and 29th in total day, averaging 506,000 and 389,000 viewers, respectively. MSNBC placed 35th in primetime and 33rd in total day, averaging 496,000 and 392,000 viewers, respectively.

HLN, which still had some Jodi Arias news to present. placed 30th in primetime and 22nd in total day, averaging 559,000 and 459,000 viewers, respectively. Current TV, which will become Al Jazeera America later this year, placed dead last among all cable channels, below Nielsen’s minimum accuracy threshold.

For the business nets: CNBC ledf the way as usual, placing 55th in primetime and 61st in total day, averaging 196,000 and 114,000 viewers, respectively. Fox Business placed 85th in primetime and 84th in total day, averaging 57,000 and 49,000 viewers, respectively. Bloomberg TV hasn’t been rated by Nielsen since it launched in the mid-90s.
