Former CNNer Carol Lin is filing her first news report since leaving the network in 2006. But this time, she's going the radio route.

Scheduled to air at 12 pmET Tuesday on NPR's Day To Day program, Lin's story is about her relationship with her mother, Joanne, who's fighting lymphoma. According to a press release from Lin's publicist, the piece will focus on how the two "try to understand and learn from each other, and find a lasting peace during a life-threatening cancer diagnosis."

There's no word on whether Lin might file additional stories for NPR.

In addition to being a single parent (Lin's husband, former CNN producer Will Robinson, died in 2003 of sinus cancer, when their daughter was just an infant), Lin last year introduced her cancer community website, Carol Lin Reporting. It's part of a larger endeavor, the Cancer Social Network, a "targeted social network" expected to launch later this year. The goal: to partner with cancer centers and nonprofits to provide cancer patients and their loved ones with resources, such as information on clinical trials.
