Anderson Cooper 360 topped FNC's On The Record by 8% with 342,000 viewers compared to On The Record's 316,000. Compared to the same time period a year ago (Q2 07), Anderson Cooper 360 has shown tremendous growth, increasing 18% while On The Record is down -18%. Anderson Cooper 360 also swept the competition among younger viewers, delivering 84,000 viewers in P18-34, up 9% compared to Q2 2007, while On the Record posted only 65,000 viewers, down -11%. In the P18-49 demo, Anderson Cooper 360 again ranked #1 with 280,000 viewers, up 14% versus same time period year-ago, while On the Record posted 243,000, down -24%. In addition, Anderson Cooper 360 increased 31% in total viewers during Q2 2008 compared to same time a year ago. In June 2008, Anderson Cooper 360 also dominated On The Record in all younger demos: 25-54, 18-34, 18-49.

CNN also posts the impressive Prime (M-Su) growth versus the last presidential election cycle (2004) while FNC declines. Comparing Q2 2004 vs. Q2 2008, FNC is down significantly in the 25-54 demo, 458,000 vs. 344,000, a decline of 25%, losing a quarter of their 2004 audience. Conversely, CNN is up 31% versus Q2 2004, 227,000 vs. 297,000 (chart attached).

In June 2008, CNN's The Situation Room is the #1 program in the 25-54 demo at 5pm, topping FNC's Election Headquarters/Just In 186,000 vs. 179,000. During that hour, The Situation Room grew 35% in total viewers (731,000 vs. 542,000) and 21% in the demo (186,000 vs. 154,000) while Election Headquarters/Just In only gained 6% (981,000 vs. 928,000) and lost -11% in the demo (179,000 vs. 202,000) versus same month year-ago.

Headline News' Morning Express continues to beat Morning Joe among demo viewers for the fifth straight quarter, (115,000 versus 107,000) while Glenn Beck continues to post record gains with double-digit increases in total viewers and the demo at both 7p and 9p, (7p: up 16% in P2+, 331,000 vs. 286,000 and up 11% in 25-54, 123,000 vs. 111,000) (9p: up 18% in P2+, 389,000 vs. 331,000 and up 14% in 25-54, 134,000 vs. 118,000).

Continuing its #1 ranking in total minutes for the 11th month in a row, the CNN Digital Network maintained the top spot among all News and Information properties. May also was a record-setting month for CNN.com in terms of international traffic as well as the number of online video streams served. According to Nielsen Online, CNN Digital Network generated 1.3 billion gross usage minutes in May, establishing a powerful lead among other News and Information properties and finishing ahead of MSNBC Digital and the Weather Channel. With access to a variety of multimedia storytelling formats, including articles, video, photo galleries, interactives and user-generated content, more people spent more time on CNN Digital Network than any other news and information site.
