Former NBC News reporter and senior investigative producer Jim Popkin is starting a communications firm.

Washington-based Seven Oaks Media Group "provides strategic and crisis communications for business leaders and organizations representing key sectors of the American economy," according to the email announcing the company.

Popkin took a buyout from NBC last month after more than 14 years with the company.
