General Description: Outside Commercial Lines sales position. Responsible for driving business sales, retention, and growing existing client revenue. Manage client relationships and drive profitability, satisfaction, and organic growth.

Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve annualized new business sales of $175k in our target market of companies with at least $10mm in sales within a specific industry.
  2. Work with Practice Leader to declare a primary industry specialization (vertical). May also choose a secondary vertical aligned with the primary.
  3. With assistance from leadership and account management staff, retain at least 92% of business year over year.
  4. Meet new business activity and quality appointment goals.
  5. Use USI resources to research prospects and develop customized messaging.
  6. Understand and explain USI’s competitive differentiation to clients and prospects.
  7. Develop sales business plan and use effective prospecting strategies.
  8. Innovate for clients using market knowledge and technical insurance expertise.
  9. Participate in national and regional vertical meetings and video calls.
  10. Engage in meetings on preparing for first appointments, advancing, closing, and retaining business.
  11. Use USI’s contact management and sales automation tools to support sales processes, inputting timely and accurate information.
  12. Participate in USI’s industry training and sales support programs.
  13. Pursue cross-selling opportunities to enhance relationships.
  14. Collaborate with the account management team on significant account services.
  15. Demonstrate strong knowledge of USI competitors.
  16. Represent USI positively in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3+ years of sales experience in insurance brokerage with a proven track record.
  • Property & Casualty insurance license required.
  • Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Consultative, positive, resourceful approach to prospects, clients, and colleagues.
  • Excellent listening skills and customer focus.
  • Ability to engage with senior management and demonstrate executive presence.
