General Description: Outside Commercial Lines sales position responsible for driving business sales, retention, and growing existing client revenue. Manage client relationships to enhance profitability, satisfaction, and organic growth.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve annualized new business sales of $175k in target markets of companies with at least $10mm in sales within a specific industry.
- Collaborate with Practice Leader to declare a primary industry specialization (vertical) and optionally a secondary vertical aligned with the primary.
- Retain at least 92% of business year over year with support from leadership and account management staff.
- Meet new business activity and appointment quality goals.
- Use USI resources to research prospects and develop tailored messaging.
- Explain USI’s competitive advantages to clients and prospects.
- Develop sales plans and employ effective prospecting strategies.
- Innovate for clients using market knowledge and technical insurance expertise.
- Participate in national and regional vertical meetings and video calls.
- Prepare for meetings covering appointment setting, advancing, closing, and retention.
- Utilize USI’s contact management and sales automation tools for sales processes and data accuracy.
- Engage in industry training and sales support programs.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
- Collaborate on significant account management services for designated clients.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of USI competitors.
- Represent USI positively at meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 3 years sales experience in an insurance brokerage with a proven success record.
- Property & Casualty insurance license required.
- Strong understanding of Property & Casualty insurance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Resourceful, positive, and consultative approach to prospects, clients, and colleagues.
- Outstanding listening skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to engage with senior management and demonstrate executive presence.
