Position Summary

The Full-time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library. ImaginOn is primarily a library dedicated to serving children and teens, providing resources and programs designed to meet the unique needs of youth in our community.

Location: ImaginOn Library 300 E. 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28202

Schedule: Full Time Benefit Eligible, 40 hours per week Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 8:00am 5:00pm Tuesdays 11:00am 8:00pm Saturdays and Sundays (weekend rotations) 8:00am 5:00pm

Essential Functions

  • Promote the library's collection and services
  • Perform Access Services activities
  • Provide service desk coverage
  • Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer
  • Provide research assistance to customers
  • Utilize integrated library systems software
  • Assisting customers at several service points
  • Training and assisting customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
  • Collaborating with Librarians to deliver programming and outreach services
  • Assisting with volunteer management
  • Perform shelving and weeding duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Polaris Leap)
  • Bilingual
  • Experience working with youth audiences

Computer Skills

Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite

Work Environment

Works in an office setting with possibility of high noise level

Schedules will include nights and weekends
