The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Engineering Technician 6 functions in a senior lead engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform design assignments by applying engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex concepts. Provide technical guidance and may direct other engineering professionals. Ideal candidate will have advanced experience with AutoDesk Inventor (SDS) and advanced experience with physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS). The Team

Function in a senior lead engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform design assignments by applying engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex concept designs. Provide technical guidance and may direct other engineering professionals. Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards: Pro-activate provides guidance and direction using standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, codes, and BV policies. Project Deliverables: Review project requirements to determine correct format and contents. Quality / Continuous Improvement: Promote quality; review inputs for consistency; ensure deliverables comply with codes and standards; maintain drawing control and historical records; pursue continual improvement. Engineering Production: Develop moderately complex design concepts; perform design calculations, material quantities and estimates; use advanced applications; review others’ deliverables; define work assignments and schedules; may participate in plant start-up activities. Project Coordination: Coordinate with design groups; may support field activities; communicate design requirements, progress and schedules. Client Focus: Identify client interests and drivers; communicate these to project teams and adapt approaches accordingly. Knowledge Sharing & Innovation: Support design standards and process improvements; identify training needs; may be recognized for expertise. People Management: Assist with performance management, career planning, mentoring; supervise engineering technicians. Resource Management: Assist in monitoring staffing levels and skill sets; identify resource needs. Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree in Drafting or related technology; Bachelor Degree preferred Typically 8+ years related experience Technical skills: advanced experience with AutoDesk Inventor (SDS); advanced substation design (AIS/GIS); proficiency with CADD and document storage systems; strong knowledge of engineering standards and BV procedures Strong communication, problem solving, time management and collaboration skills Minimum Qualifications
