The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Engineering Technician 6 functions in a senior lead engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform design assignments by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may direct other engineering professionals. The ideal candidate has advanced experience with AutoDesk Inventor (SDS) and advanced experience with physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS). Responsibilities include owning design development and contributing to project success while maintaining alignment with BV standards and processes. The Team

Job Summary

Functions in a senior lead engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform design assignments by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may direct other engineering professionals. Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards Pro-activate provides guidance and direction by utilizing knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures Reviews project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables Quality / Continuous Improvement Promotes quality within project/group/section Reviews design inputs to ensure consistency Ensures deliverables comply with codes and standards suitable for the project Maintains drawing control and historical records per project method Demonstrates personal accuracy and drives continual improvement and change management Engineering Production Applies basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex concepts and deliverables Uses judgment in deliverable input interpretation Handles difficult technical assignments within area of expertise and may provide technical guidance Performs design calculations, material quantities and estimates, and records Uses advanced design software as needed May review others' deliverables May define work assignments and maintain schedules May participate in startup activities for specialized areas Project Coordination Coordinates with design group personnel to review and exchange project information May support field activities May communicate project design requirements, progress and schedules Client Focus Assists in identifying key client interests and drivers Communicates client interests to project team and develops approaches to address them Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology Assists in developing and communicating design standards and process improvements Identifies training and development needs for supervised personnel May be recognized for expertise in one or more areas People Management Supports performance management, recognition, and corrective actions May participate in career planning and development Supervises engineering technicians, including mentoring and providing feedback Resource Management May assist in monitoring staffing levels and skill sets Assists in identifying resource needs and process requirements Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree in Drafting or related Technology preferred Bachelor Degree in Engineering Design related Technology preferred Typically a minimum of 8 years related work experience Technical skills: Advanced experience with AutoDesk Inventor (SDS) and physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS) Proficiency with CADD and information modeling tools Strong knowledge of engineering standards, document control, and BV policies Understanding of procurement, contracts, project controls and estimating Basic HR/management knowledge and organizational awareness Minimum Qualifications
