As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys — all from the comfort of your home.

What We Look For In a Tutor

  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Expertise in AP English Literature and Composition and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
  • Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Priority given to those with tutoring experience, teaching experience, and graduate-level education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students.
  • Accept instant tutoring requests on-demand when available.
  • Personalize instruction and adapt to each student’s needs.
  • Match with students whose learning styles align with your teaching approach.
  • Utilize the platform’s features to enhance sessions and save prep time.

Compensation and How It Works

  • Base contract rates start at $18/hour and increase for specialized subjects, with potential to earn up to $40/hour with the same student over time.
  • Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions invoiced.
  • Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like.
  • Tutor remotely using the Live Learning Platform — no commuting required.
  • We handle the logistics and payments; you invoice for your sessions.
