Job Summary

The Specialty Artist - MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting guests in the selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand to the Ulta Beauty guest and support the Experience Manager (EM) through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires professional caliber makeup artistry skills, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by interfacing with existing guests and maintaining an active preferred guest list, with follow-up on inquiries.
• Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting and engaging every guest, personalizing service, offering samples, and recommending complementary products and/or services.
• Conduct personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons; skincare analyses; and product demonstrations to MAC and Ulta Beauty brand standards.
• Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete as many skill sets as appropriate within the required timeframe.
• Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives within the brand and across departments.
• Book appointments for and support services and in-store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while achieving MAC brand and store sales goals.
• Stay informed about current industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates and guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app to guests.
• Maintain and update an active MAC client portfolio for brand sales.
• Act as a brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trends, and MAC programs with colleagues and guests.
• Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners through trainings and in-store events.
• Participate in ongoing brand and category training to drive MAC brand sales.
• Collaborate with store leadership to grow the business.

Process

• Follow Ulta Beauty and MAC brand policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code and wear brand assets as directed.
• Drive sales by keeping work areas replenished, tested, and accessible, and by maintaining hygiene standards for testers.
• Maintain store and MAC area cleanliness and assist with merchandising, inventory procedures, and shipments using brand-provided tools.
• Protect company assets with loss prevention practices and provide exceptional guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as directed.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma preferred
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license as required by state law

Experience

• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred

• Strong competency in sales, product knowledge, and service
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle guest concerns and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility and standing; occasional bending, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lbs
