Overview

Mentor a Promise is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Video Editor to join our growing content and communications team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in shaping our brand’s digital voice across multiple platforms by producing engaging, high-quality video and audio content. You’ll support our mission of empowering mentors and youth by creating content that informs, inspires, and connects our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Social Media Editing: Cut and edit short-form vertical videos tailored for platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok, ensuring alignment with platform trends and audience engagement strategies.
• Podcast Production: Edit and produce weekly podcast episodes (video + audio), maintaining clean pacing, sharp intros/outros, and polished sound/visual quality for Apple Podcasts for Creators.
• YouTube Channel Management: Handle video uploads via YouTube Studio, including crafting titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, and optimizing for search and viewer retention.
• Content Consistency: Maintain consistent branding, audio-visual quality, and narrative tone across all video content.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the content, marketing, and education teams to align messaging and storytelling with organizational goals.

Job Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Vimeo, YouTube, Reels).
• Basic audio editing skills using tools like Audacity or Adobe Audition.
• Experience editing for multiple formats and platforms, especially short-form vertical video and long-form podcasts.
• Familiarity with YouTube Studio and publishing best practices.
• Strong eye for visual storytelling, pacing, and brand tone.
• Ability to work independently and meet weekly deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit storytelling or mission-driven content.
• Understanding of social media trends and how to optimize content accordingly.
• Motion graphics or basic animation skills (a plus, not required).
