As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for producing high quality documentation, appropriate to its intended audience, and will ensure that development and delivery of documentation is consistent and compliant with regulatory and company guidelines. This full-time position will be in the Package Engineering and Product Labeling organization of Siemens Healthineers and responsible for product labeling for immuno and chemistry assays. You will join a team of talented tech writers who work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to make our products easier to use. This position requires general guidance on new assignments and processes, but day-to-day work is expected to be completed with little instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit instructions for use for medical device immunoassays and chemistry assays customer-facing documentation using an XML content management system, ensuring all writing project plan deliverables are met. Experience with other authoring tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, MS Word) is preferred.
  • Work with internal teams and SMEs to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product(s) and apply standard instructions for use content with focus on reuse and single-source opportunities.
  • Demonstrate end-to-end document management: check-in/check-out, version control, review and approval, and release activities.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA and international regulatory guidelines and good documentation practices.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams and communicate clearly to translate complex data into clear labeling.
  • Extract key information from clinical data and reports to create accurate labeling.
  • Manage electronic document control, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; maintain highly organized task prioritization and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Excellent English written skills; strong ability to write for translations; proven technical writing experience in Life Sciences.
  • Strong working knowledge of XML content management, publication structures, content reuse, and content development protocols.
  • Experience with XML authoring in a Content Management System and desktop publishing.
  • Understanding of Medical Device compliance with FDA and international regulatory guidelines; knowledge of Good Documentation Practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote/virtual environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Education

  • Technical Writing Certification (preferred) or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, business, science or other related field required.
  • Science degree or experience in academic settings or as medical technologist is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years direct experience in technical writing in a medical device manufacturing company.
  • Expert skill in current standard authoring tools; experience with an XML-based content management system, Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe InDesign (intermediate level).
  • Previous experience writing in a medical device or other regulated industry; science background a plus.

Annual base pay: Min $89,000 – Max $133,500. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, and more where eligible.
