A Communication Foreman is responsible for the installation of communications cabling and equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and standards. As a Foreman, you should have work experience installing equipment, which involves using hand tools and power tools, a basic understanding of Telecom Systems, blueprints, and knowledge of codes and standards. Telecom Foremen are full-time employees with company benefits.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge and safe use of hand tools and various power tools
Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Following safety policies and procedures
Participating in daily safety and work briefings
Installing various types of low voltage cable
Managing small to large-sized projects of 5+ persons
Conferring with senior management and supervisory personnel to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
Scheduling projects to meet deadlines within budget
Interpreting and explaining plans to field workers
Terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low voltage cabling (fiber optics, Cat 5, Cat 6)
Installing pathways and cable trays
Installing telecommunications devices and prefabricated components
Installing telecommunications grounding systems
Training and supervising technicians/apprentices in cable installation from Telecommunication Rooms to work area outlets, following drawings and run lists
Performing quality assurance checks on team’s work
Maintaining a clean work area and participating in job site cleanup
Securing tools and materials daily
Travel up to 25%, which may include domestic and international trips
Qualifications / Skills Sets / Expectations:
5+ years of experience in the commercial communications industry
High School diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Successfully passing a background check and drug test
Reliable transportation to and from the job site
Ability to pass a basic telecommunication knowledge test
Punctuality, teamwork, and maintaining a safe work environment
Wear long pants and a shirt covering shoulders (not provided by the company)
Provide basic tools from the provided list prior to employment
Physical Abilities:
Lift at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods
Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing and balancing on scaffolds, lifts, and ladders
Perform routine physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching
Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and communication skills in English
Use standard ladders with tools without exceeding weight limits
Recognize potential problems or issues
Apply general rules to specific problems and analyze information to draw conclusions
See details within a few feet, understand spoken information
Desired Skills:
Active security clearance
Experience with Microsoft Office applications
