Overview

Communications Apprentices are employees with basic responsibilities. This Apprentice level will receive instruction and work experience in installing basic communication equipment, involving the use of hand tools and power tools, understanding electrical blueprints, and knowledge of the NEC. Apprentices are encouraged to become well-qualified technicians by registering for related courses, attending regularly, and being punctual. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assisting in pulling wiring, site grounding, pulling low voltage cable, prefab assembly installation, core drilling, and cable tray installation. Installing devices, maintaining work areas, securing tools, and assisting with tool checks. Participating in job site cleanup, handling materials, and preparing work areas. Demonstrating effective use of hand tools and wearing all personal safety equipment. Following safety policies, reading hazard analyses, and demonstrating proper tool care. Understanding and following material safeguarding, storage practices, and equipment safety guidelines. Assisting in telecom wire pulling of all sizes and actively participating in daily briefings. Requirements:

High school diploma or GED with 0+ months of experience. Must be 18 years or older. Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite and school. Willingness to attend evening classes once or twice a week for three years. This is a 40-hour weekly position with expected overtime and potential travel. Physical Requirements:

Lifting at least 100 pounds at once, 60 pounds for extended periods. Relocating a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. Working at heights up to 60 feet, climbing scaffolds, lifts, and ladders. Performing routine physical activities and possessing good vision and hearing. Recognizing issues or potential problems. Applying rules to specific problems and synthesizing information. Seeing details at close range and understanding spoken communication. Desire:

Ability to follow instructions and install quality products under supervision, equipped with basic hand tools including snips and punch down tools. Experience with fiber optics and vocational training are pluses. Benefits:
