The Myers Park Library is located on Queens Road inCharlotte, NC. The Myers Park Library serves a close-knitcommunity in Charlotte's historic Myers Park neighborhood, located near UptownCharlotte and Queens University. As the city's oldest library, it has long beena cherished institution for many customers, some of whom have frequented thebranch since childhood. This location offers specialized, high-level researchassistance-particularly for college students and genealogy enthusiasts.Additionally, the Myers Park Branch is trusted by its customers for daily Readers'Advisory services and personalized technology support.

The Library Associate works within the branchteam to create a welcoming and engaging environment for teens. The LibraryAssociate leads age-appropriate programs for preteens, teens, and emergingadults, and manages the teen volunteer program. This position represents thelibrary in the community and facilitates outreach to various area partners. TheLibrary Associate participates in systemwide teams and works collaborativelywith staff in Teen Services. Demonstrated success in building and sustainingcollaborative partnerships with both the library community and externalorganizations, fostering positive and lasting relationships with patrons andcommunity stakeholders. The incumbent will be responsible for staffing a busyinformation desk, serving customers of all ages, providing exemplary service toall customers through technology, computer assistance, research, and readers'advisory from the information desk. TheLibrary Associate serves as a regular manager-on-duty.

Schedule includes a minimum of two eveningshifts per week and a rotating weekend schedule.

Position Summary Perform professional and technical librarywork in one or more specific library programs such as Adult, Teens, Youth,Reference Services, or Library Systems Administration. The Library Associatedelivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision ofvalue-added experiences for all customers.

Essential Functions Programming for preteens, teens and emerging adults Build and maintain relationships with outreach sites and partnerships Manage Teen Volunteers Prepare monthly program reports and statistics Provide research assistance to customers Utilize integrated library systems software Provide service desk coverage Maintain library's collection of materials including repairs, shelving, and marketing Promote and markets library's programs; collaborating with Marketing and Communication to generate flyers and materials pertaining to programs Design and provide developmentally appropriate programs for ages 9 to 24 Create and maintain attractive and appropriate bulletin boards and displays

Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customerservice experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Education/Experience Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Preferred Qualifications Bilingual - Spanish communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) Experience working with preteens, teens and/or emerging adults Experience delivering programs in the community (e.g., schools, nonprofits, parks, etc.)
