Communications & Community Engagement Specialist

The Communications & Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for leading the development and execution of Goodwill Southeast Georgia's internal communications strategy and supporting the planning and delivery of community engagement initiatives. This role collaborates across departments, vendors, and community organizations to ensure effective communication and impactful events that align with the organization's mission and values. Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities: Community Engagement & Event Coordination Plan and execute strategic marketing and engagement events, including VIP tours, associate recognition events, and shopper-focused activities. Serve as the primary point of contact for event staff, volunteers, and participants. Manage event logistics, including sourcing supplies, placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery. Collaborate with organizing committees to define event scope, format, and timelines. Track and evaluate event goals, metrics, and outcomes to inform future planning. Oversee event budgets and ensure cost-effective execution. Handle comprehensive event tasks such as vendor coordination, purchase orders, and on-site support. Partner with the Marketing team to develop promotional materials and drive event participation. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners. Provide support for department-wide event planning and internal communications related to events. Internal Communications Design and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy, including messaging frameworks, channels, and delivery methods. Produce and distribute engaging content such as newsletters, email updates, connected TV content, videos, and presentations. Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to ensure messaging is consistent and aligned with organizational goals. Monitor communication effectiveness and recommend improvements based on feedback and analytics. Maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and relevant internal messaging. Identify and support initiatives that promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture. Assist with crisis communications to ensure timely and accurate information is shared with staff. Qualifications and Special Skills Required College degree required, Marketing, Journalism, PR preferred. Minimum 1-2 years' experience in marketing, journalism, or internal communications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with establishing media relationships preferred. Experience with design software such as Canva required. Experience using artificial intelligence tools (Co-pilot, Gemini, etc.) preferred. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Possess a current valid driver's license and be insurable by company carrier. Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as required. Ability to travel to events and sites across Goodwill SEGA's territory. Positive attitude, detail, and customer-oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
