Art Director Job at Print Magazine in New York
Print Magazine, New York, NY, United States, 10261
Overview
Pandiscio Green is seeking a highly conceptual, astutely focused, and culturally curious Art Director. Location: New York, NY. Onsite or Remote Possible. This is a flexible, hybrid role (based either in Brooklyn, NY or Palo Alto, CA) ideal for someone who moves fluidly between design creation and creative leadership — capable of crafting a strategic brand campaign in the morning, a dynamic wordmark by noon, and a photography content plan & brief by day’s end. The firm works with a global client base at the top of luxury real estate, hospitality, and arts & culture, and the Art Director will help shape the visual language of current and upcoming portfolio projects while preserving the studio’s reputation and integrity.
From brand strategy and visual identity to digital application and campaign development, design of decks, books, packaging, and environments, you will own your work and collaborate directly with the studio’s creative directors, vendors, and clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead concept development, visual exploration, and execution across multiple projects with energy, enthusiasm, and focus.
- Translate and evolve strategic direction into design systems with a clear point of view.
- Create brands that live beyond the logo, building complete visual identity systems with strong art direction and cohesive style.
- Craft compelling and concise presentations that are as provocative and visual as the work itself.
- Guide designers with a calm, clear, and collaborative spirit.
- Liaise with clients and collaborators (developers, hospitality groups, architects, photographers, etc.) to ensure excellence from concept to execution.
- Lead design production across digital, print, signage, and environments to achieve high-quality execution.
- Manage project scope of deliverables, schedules, and delivery dates to align with contracts.
- Maintain curiosity and passion for culture, design, and branding to keep portfolio unique and timeless.
Qualifications / Who You Are
- 5–8 years of experience at top-tier studios or in-house creative teams with luxury, hospitality, lifestyle, or culture clients.
- Refined visual sensibility and elevated typographic instincts.
- Confidently presenting and defending ideas with patience, personality, and humility.
- Ability to think ahead, challenge yourself, and know when to push or pivot to maintain potent creativity and schedule.
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Figma.
- Experience with both tactile design (hand sketching, printmaking, texture making) and motion design (kinetic animation, logo animation, moving imagery).
- Intermediate animation and video editing capabilities in After Effects & Premiere.
- Interest in Gen AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, related platforms).
- Adept at building decks and mockups (e.g., hotel keycards, Baseline Grid layouts).
- Advanced knowledge of print production and digital UX/UI best practices.
- Thoughtful, humble, and earnest — a commitment to beauty, clarity, and impact.
Bonus Points
- Experience with motion design or creative direction for photo/video.
- Familiarity with residential real estate development and/or hospitality sectors.
- Interest in language, writing, naming, and editorial storytelling.
- Working knowledge of architectural software (AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp).
- Fluency with visual platforms such as Cosmos, Savee, Hypra Studio, Death To Stock, etc.
What We Offer
- Hybrid flexibility with a home base in our NYC studio.
- Paid time off and studio-wide breaks.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Mentorship, growth, and a supportive team environment.
- Opportunities to travel domestically and internationally for projects and industry events.
- A chance to influence the studio’s direction in luxury, design, and brand.
