Responsibilities
- Manages scoring services scope for projects.
- Functions as a content/subject area expert and as a scoring service and scoring system functionality expert.
- Guides and supervises scoring directors assigned to projects and other Content Specialists when acting as the lead Content Specialist.
- Manages new and/or complex projects and may participate in inter- and intra-departmental initiatives.
- Models expected Content Specialist behavior and mentors other Content Specialists.
- Plans content hours for assigned projects and may advise on planned content hours for other projects.
- Identifies and develops scoring directors for future content roles and conducts interventions/coaching as needed.
- Ensures documentation, training modules, and final materials are properly created, signed off, and archived.
- Monitors quality across grades and items, addressing quality issues and communicating plans to Content Manager and Scoring Manager.
- Obtains, analyzes, and reports information on scoring staff performance and compiles requested reports.
- Supports budgeting and cost improvements; may assist with proposals and bids.
- Acts as primary customer contact for content-related communications on assigned projects and ensures compliance with records controls.
- Mentors or advises other projects’ Content Specialists and/or scoring directors as needed.
- Participates in additional initiatives not tied to a specific project (e.g., training development, quality groups).
- Attends status meetings and provides project reports as requested.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills with the ability to foster productive working relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (including phone skills for distributed projects and meetings).
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write accurate scorer training and to coach staff on annotations, scoring decisions, and other content-/project-related documentation.
- Strong content-specific knowledge with the ability to coach and supervise staff on various projects.
- Clear understanding of and ability to articulate scoring concepts such as frequency distribution, validity, calibration, and other industry terminology, and apply them to scoring situations.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google tools) and ability to handle multiple applications.
- Ability to supervise large groups of employees in various roles.
- Strong initiative, organizational and leadership skills; ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a confidential work environment.
- Preferred: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Content Specialist; experience across multiple assessment project types; background in educational measurement; experience directing regional and distributed teams; strong reporting and data management capabilities; advanced degree (education, English, mathematics, science, or language).
- Knowledge and use of project management tools and applications.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this role is $28.10. This position is not bonus eligible, and information on benefits offered is provided here.
