The Department of Music within the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Tampa seeks a full-time, tenure-track Director of Choral Studies - Assistant Professor of Music with experience in vocal music education to begin in August 2026.
The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution with more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities
- Lead the UTampa choral program, including conducting choral ensembles and teaching choral conducting and choral methods courses.
- Mentor students in the vocalist track of the Music Education major and maintain a high-quality collegiate choral program.
- Participate in recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus.
- Teach additional courses as needed (including aural skills) depending on experience.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Music is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: DMA (or ABD) in choral conducting; at least one degree in choral conducting and one degree in music education; successful teaching experience in K-12 and at the college level; experience teaching aural skills; demonstrated success as a music educator and choral director; evidence of and/or commitment to outreach and recruitment.
