Volunteer: Professional Community Communication Integration

3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

The International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) is seeking a skilled volunteer through Taproot to help us strengthen the digital infrastructure of our Professional Community. This community connects clinicians, researchers, and allied professionals who are working to advance awareness, research, and care for premenstrual disorders worldwide. We’d like the volunteer to help us evaluate, select, and integrate a communication tool (such as a discussion forum, Slack/Teams‑style workspace, or other community platform) that allows members to connect, share resources, and collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Review and recommend platform options
  • Support integration with our existing website and membership systems
  • Advise on best practices for usability, accessibility, and data security
  • Help set up the initial structure (channels, categories, or guidelines) so the community is ready to launch

Our Professional Community is central to bridging gaps between research and practice, and giving professionals a space to collaborate will strengthen their ability to improve care. With this new communication channel, clinicians and researchers worldwide will be able to exchange knowledge more efficiently, co‑create resources, and ultimately bring better treatment options and support to the millions of people affected by premenstrual disorders. By volunteering with us, you’ll be helping build the infrastructure that powers a global network of experts working to change lives.

Our team has already gained internal buy‑in from leadership and our Professional Community advisory members, who are eager for this feature. We have clarified the goals of the platform (peer‑to‑peer exchange, professional collaboration, resource sharing) and gathered initial input from community members on their needs. We are prepared to dedicate staff time to work closely with the volunteer, provide access to our website and membership systems, and follow through on the recommendations made. Once the platform is integrated, our team will take responsibility for ongoing moderation and management to ensure it remains an active, safe, and useful space.
