Join the Volunteer: Help a News Integrity Nonprofit Beef Up Individual Giving role at The Trust Project.

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

The Trust Project recently began an individual donor campaign and we are really pleased with the reception we're getting. But I'm a novice at individual giving campaign strategy and deeply need an expert by my side. You'd help us craft a plan to identify potential donors likely to want to make a difference through helping us, develop the right language and timing to approach them and cultivate interest, ask for a major gift and steward the relationship.

We want to do our part to create a world where a robust, responsible free press protects democracy, upholds the public interest, enables dialogue across difference and enables communities to thrive. You'll be part of our new strategic plan, which recognizes that it's vital in a changing world to expand revenue opportunities beyond mainly foundation and corporate grants. We'll put your advice to work immediately.

We have our mission and values statement, draft emails and pitches, and some experience developing donor relationships already. You won't have to start from scratch. As the CEO and chief fundraiser, I'm also highly motivated and have a board with great connections.
