Overview This position assists in implementing and administering the quality control and assurance program to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with project plans and specifications and complies with all standards and methods outlined in the project Quality Control Plan, as well as with client requirements and specifications. Depending on the project scope, this position will report to the Project Quality Control Supervisor. This position also ensures quality assurance surveillance is conducted on materials and services provided by vendors, fabrication facilities, and subcontractors.

Location & Schedule

Location: Town & North Slope project sites

Point of Hire: Fairbanks, AK or Anchorage, AK

Schedule: Town Mon‑Fri+; Projects Mon‑Sun

Hours: Town – 40+, Projects – 70+

Responsibilities

Understand, practice, and continually lead by example Doyon Energy Services' commitment to zero incident safety and environmental culture.

Provide overall project quality control engagement and leadership on new pipeline construction, rehabilitation of existing pipelines, and oilfield maintenance projects.

Align Quality Control movements with the DES project‑specific quality control plan.

During the execution phase, with corporate management, project management, estimators, and client personnel on preparation of project quality plans and inspection requirements.

Assist with reviewing potential candidates for the Quality Control Inspectors, if needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Direct Quality Control Inspectors in evaluating and testing construction activities.

Perform inspections over completed work, subcontractors, vendors, and fabrication facilities to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

Prepare material submittals and Material Delivery Verification Forms.

Prepare Daily Quality Control Reports and review all QC Inspectors' daily reports.

Maintain current on‑site records of quality control operations, activities, tests, and inspections.

Assist in maintaining an on‑site record of drawings and materials used in construction activities.

Support the QC Manager to arrange with the testing laboratory to perform required tests on all materials and processes proposed for use on the project.

Assist with implementing the QC Manager and the Procurement Manager in implementing methods and procedures to identify unacceptable material and supplies.

Conduct periodic training sessions to keep project personnel informed on proper quality procedures and methods.

Assist in the coordination of construction activities relating to all quality control disciplines on the project.

Assist Quality Control in performing submittal review and approval for compliance with contract documents.

Verify that testing is performed by contractual standards and review inspection and test results/reports to ensure code and client requirements are met.

Maintain effective communications between project management, client representatives, and quality assurance personnel.

Maintain accurate documentation of all inspections and quality control activities.

Assist the Quality Control Supervisor in reviewing test and inspection results as required.

Verify rework items are expeditiously corrected.

Perform Quality Control Inspectors' duties and responsibilities when required.

Demonstrate leadership, motivation, and interpersonal skills in managing people, processes, and concurrent projects.

Understand project‑specific policies and procedures.

Participate in required client meetings as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position may supervise Quality Control Inspectors, depending on the size of the project scope.

Qualifications

Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certificate required.

NACE (now AMPP) Level II Coating Inspector preferred.

Bachelor's degree from a 4‑year college or university in Science, Engineering or a directly related field, or 5 years of QA/QC experience plus 2 years of management experience may be substituted.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in the construction industry.

Minimum of 2 years' QA/QC experience.

Competencies

Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to speak before small and large groups.

Strong analytical and report writing skills.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Windows.

Ability to learn and effectively use client and DAL's corporate management information systems.

Familiarity and excellent understanding of API 1104 and D1.1.

Working knowledge of B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, and 49CFR 195. Parts 195 & 192.

Ability to use advanced and intermediate mathematical concepts and skills.

Demonstrated ability to accurately, effectively, and quickly use and logically apply mathematical principles and formulas in computer-generated reports, evaluations, and other correspondence.

Ability to understand the totality of projects and reasoning behind decisions made by construction supervision to keep projects on schedule and within budgets.

Strong ability to reason with the client's project management and construction supervision.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40+ pounds.

May be required to stand, sit, or walk for reasonable periods of time.

Operate company‑provided computer for extended periods.

Work outdoors in weather extremes and near equipment with potentially high noise levels.

Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Must pass a drug test.
