Job Overview Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174-bed private psychiatric center located in Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24‑hour emergency services and offers a full continuum of care, including inpatient treatment for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and ECT services.
Position Summary The Activity Therapist conducts activity therapy to improve functioning and independence and to provide activity resources and opportunities for all patients, focusing on health and well‑being.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Conduct an activity assessment on patients.
Conduct therapeutic activity groups.
Maintain the health and safety of patients.
Complete and document evaluations of progress and participate in the treatment team.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreation Therapy, or Music Therapy.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Activity Therapy, preferably in a psychiatric setting with children, adolescents, and adult populations.
Registered Art Therapist, Certified Music Therapist, Registered Occupational Therapist, Registered Physical Therapist, or Certified Recreation Therapist credential required.
Working knowledge of activity‑therapy programming and effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of behavioral management, risk management, infection control, common psychiatric diagnoses, and fire safety.
Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations (Week 1: Monday–Friday 8 AM – 5 PM).
