Senior Piping Designer Job Type:

Full-time / Direct Hire

Base Pay Range:

$40.20/hr - $51.90/hr

Job Overview

Responsible for supporting all project phases with a focus on detailed engineering. Serves as the piping design lead, ensuring coordination and effective communication among all engineering disciplines.

Reports administratively to the Design Manager and, within projects, to the discipline lead engineer and/or project manager.

Responsibilities

Lead piping design activities and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

Prepare general arrangements, mechanical, and piping design drawings and sketches using 3D modeling software.

Manage and lead 3D model reviews and coordinate multi-discipline design integration.

Develop construction drawings and specification packages.

Support engineers in equipment layout, mechanical and piping design, and field documentation activities.

Education, Skills, and Experience

Associate degree in a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Experience in 3D laser scanning coordination and data management preferred.

Strong background in heavy industrial design (refining, power, chemical, etc.), particularly with retrofit projects.

Proficient in reading and developing P&IDs, identifying field equipment, and performing field verification.

Skilled in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and 3D design/modeling tools such as CADWorx (Revit and Plant 3D experience a plus).

Proficient with NavisWorks and experienced in conducting 3D model reviews.

Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of managing tasks independently and collaborating within a team.

Experience with client interaction from proposal through execution.

Previous consulting experience preferred.

General Requirements

Ability and willingness to travel to industrial sites and comply with safety requirements.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to operate company or rental vehicles.

Physical & Workplace Requirements

Ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces and noisy areas.

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and performing fieldwork as needed.

Visual acuity for detailed design and drafting tasks.
