What you will do: The Sr Mktg Mgr, Strategy and Communications will be a key leader in the marketing organization, as an active contributor to both long range and short term strategic planning as well as directly leading 2 key components of the way the brand shows up with the consumer: Marketing Strategy and Marketing Communications. This role will collaborate with key cross functional partners to uncover consumer, category and industry insights that help us make strategic decisions and deliver sharp points of view in the briefing processes. We’ll also turn to this leader to learn what can attract our consumers and prospects and how we can improve consumer experience. In short, this role will help us improve our company’s reputation and drive growth.

As a key contributor to the company, you will partner with the VP Marketing and executive level company leaders on 3 key initiatives: Marketing strategy, annual brand and marketing planning, and seasonal marketing communications briefs to ensure Tillamook retains its challenger brand status to fuel future growth. This leader will work closely with our Consumer and Marketing Insights and Category Growth teams as key partners in developing overarching plans and key strategies. This role will have significant annual business goal achievement accountability and will be responsible for the implementation of annual business strategies via the marketing brief.

Under the direction of the VP Marketing, this leader will help shape and influence the development of cross-functional consumer activation plans and programs in support of the overall brief, including providing feedback and guidance that ensures our major campaigns are aligned to the brief.

Given the leadership of marketing strategy and communications, this leader will have a very close working relationship with our lead brand agency, especially their account and strategy teams. To that end, this role will manage strategic projects with our lead brand agency, from annual roadmap building, creative platform development, annual communications strategies and more.

In addition to supporting these strategic projects, this person will also be the marketing team’s primary cross functional contact for the consumer and market insights team, as well as serve as a key partner to Stewardship, Category Growth, and Brand Design teams to collaborate and align in order to deliver our annual plans.

This role will be a thoughtful yet provocative strategist that is adept at driving results through influencing others and collaboration. He or she will need to be creative, possess a strategic mindset, be an excellent storyteller and have a thirst to question the status quo and reinvent the marketing model to remain relevant and consumer connected always.

This role reports to VP Marketing and manages 2 personnel.

Here’s a day in the life:

Analyze brand positioning and consumer insights

Partner with VP Marketing to shape and communicate our marketing plans

Partner with VP Marketing to translate brand elements into plans and go-to-market strategies

Develop annual and seasonal marketing briefs that inspire agencies and channel teams to fuel growth through innovative and differentiated marketing strategies, inclusive of ‘big idea’ articulation and initial comms frameworks

Partner with internal Brand Design to bring comms frameworks and principles to life for the entire marketing team, including agencies

Own day-to-day relationship with Creative AOR, including the management of strategy and comms projects

Manage strategy and comms budget, both internally and as part of the larger agency SOW

Have strong understanding of multi-channel marketing plans and excellence

Directly supervise the work of 2 employees

Partner with Consumer Insights and Category Growth team to inform strategy and plans, as well as to inform marketing KPIs

Monitor market trends, research consumer markets and competitors’ activities

Monitor product distribution and consumer reactions

Partner with Marketing Leadership to ideate innovative growth strategies

Align the marketing team around the brand’s direction, choices and tactics

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

7+ years of relevant marketing experience, including brand planning and marketing strategy

Proven experience in managing external agency partners and marketing budgets

Ability to operate independently with limited direction

Excellent verbal communication skills

Excellent writing skills
