About the Team and Role The

Sr. Manager of Strategic Events

has global responsibility for the strategic development of key global events and conferences for the Varian business area. This leader will ensure a unified, customer‑centric experience across the key global shows that reflects Siemens Healthineers’ commitment to a world without fear of cancer and will design these experiences to maximize sales opportunities, brand awareness, and premium experiences for customers, partners, and prospective clients. The role involves close collaboration with business line marketing, regional counterparts, agency partners, executive staff, and the Exhibit and Event Management teams to ensure seamless planning and execution. It also requires frequent travel (50%+ or as needed, weekends occasionally).

Responsibilities

Manage from concept to execution strategic corporate event programs including tradeshows, conferences, roadshows, and seminars.

Design and implement new event experiences, strategies and tactics to maximize company exposure, generate awareness and thought leadership, and produce sales leads.

Develop and drive an integrated event strategy across different business groups to coordinate all elements from defining event strategy and goals to developing event positioning, key messaging and demo materials and experiences.

Establish and maintain planning standards, best practices, policies, and operating procedures in keeping with established company practices and policies.

Manage multiple external vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and logistics.

Manage multiple complex timetables successfully in a collaborative and extremely fast‑paced environment.

Define clear success metrics for each event, measure outcomes, and continuously optimize strategies.

Ensure flawless execution by monitoring the planning and deliverables.

Provide data‑driven post‑event reports, insights, and recommendations to senior management.

Manage functional or department budgets and execute events within budgets.

Maintain Varian’s marketing management systems as needed.

Assist in creating presentations and reports for executive management and key stakeholders.

Qualifications

10+ years of marketing and communications experience, specializing in the events and exhibitions sector with advanced knowledge of trade show and events strategies, tactics and industry best practices.

Background in healthcare marketing/marketing communications is considered an asset.

Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks in healthcare marketing and engagement with healthcare professionals is highly valued.

Experience in managing projects that have tight deadlines, limited resources, and cross‑functional dependencies (cross‑functional teams of 30 or more).

Professional, with grace under fire. Highly motivated and execution focused.

Tactful and diplomatic – the ability to interact with all levels of the company top to bottom, including senior company, customer, and partner management.

A problem solver, able to deal with ambiguity and quick changes of direction as needed.

Well‑developed analytic skills, linking event plans and activities to business results and measurable outcomes.

Demonstrated experience managing complex, high‑profile events involving senior management.

Proven experience managing, leading, driving and measuring direct and virtual teams toward common goals.

Adept at working within highly matrixed, cross‑functional environments.

Agency and budget management experience.

Knowledge of lead management systems and processes, and proven ability to leverage events marketing to advance customers through the journey.

Proven track record of managing staff and agency teams to achieve measurable results.

Strong project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Salesforce.com, Marketo, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Base Pay Range Min $167,030 – Max $250,550
