Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an inclusive collection of books and resources that represent a wide range of cultures, identities, abilities, and experiences
• Develop materials that support curriculum, student interests, and school mission.
• Manage library budget to ensure strategic allocation of resources.
• Inspire a love of reading, foster students' critical thinking skills, and empower students to be capable researchers and ethical users of information.
• Develop and teach library lessons that teach empathy, information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.
• Collaborate with faculty members to design effective research programs that support students in independent research.
• Ensure library space is a welcoming space for students and faculty members.
• Oversee all aspects of library services, including circulation, reference, technical services, and facility management.
• Lead and supervise library staff that promotes an inclusive environment committed to serving the learning needs of the community.

Requirements

• Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree required.
• Previous experience as a K–12 librarian is required, preferably involving lower and middle school students.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum.
• U.S. Work Authorization required.

Additional Desired Qualities

• Experience working in independent schools preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency with Accessit Library Database.
• Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
