Responsibilities
- Create and maintain an inclusive collection of books and resources that represent a wide range of cultures, identities, abilities, and experiences
- Develop materials that support curriculum, student interests, and school mission.
- Manage library budget to ensure strategic allocation of resources.
- Inspire a love of reading, foster students' critical thinking skills, and empower students to be capable researchers and ethical users of information.
- Develop and teach library lessons that teach empathy, information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.
- Collaborate with faculty members to design effective research programs that support students in independent research.
- Ensure library space is a welcoming space for students and faculty members.
- Oversee all aspects of library services, including circulation, reference, technical services, and facility management.
- Lead and supervise library staff that promotes an inclusive environment committed to serving the learning needs of the community.
Requirements
- Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree required.
- Previous experience as a K–12 librarian is required, preferably involving lower and middle school students.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum.
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
Additional Desired Qualities
- Experience working in independent schools preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with Accessit Library Database.
- Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
