Job Description The Multi‑Media Specialist supports the Colorado Department of Corrections Correctional Industries, which develops marketing materials to widen the reach of the program to new and existing customers. The selected individual will assist the CTA by creating training presentations, instructional materials, and web‑based training.
Primary Duties
Design and maintain websites, social media, and printed materials for 18 (and growing) diverse businesses within Colorado State Prisons
Maintain ERP software related to manufacturing businesses, including inventory setup, periodic price validation, product development, and market launch
Redesign and maintain the CCI online store on the Shopify platform
Create and edit video content
Develop product listings with photographs, descriptions, and visual options
Create marketing materials (flyers, brochures, reports, videos) using Adobe Creative Cloud software
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of professional experience designing, developing, and maintaining marketing materials, websites, social media, video, and printed materials (full‑time experience prorated for part‑time)
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing, education media, mass media production, graphic design, or a closely related field; transcripts must be uploaded and include name, institution, degree, and date conferred
One (1) year of professional experience in the same areas as above, if the applicant does not meet the five‑year requirement
Substitutions: relevant experience in criminal‑justice or related fields may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis; a master’s or doctorate may substitute for the bachelor’s and one year of experience; up to 60 semester hours of core coursework in another field may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis
Required Competencies
Exceptional customer service skills
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
Ability to meet tight production deadlines under high pressure
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong collaboration skills with an ability to interpret customer vision and target audience
Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure
Attention to detail and ability to follow instruction
Adherence to policy and efficient use of state resources
Knowledge of emerging technologies and willingness to introduce them
Ability to create accessible documents and technical content following plain language and accessibility guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
State service experience with multimedia platforms
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workspace, and basic HTML coding for web design
Knowledge of correctional operations
Demonstrated application of accessibility best practices (ADA, Section 508, WCAG)
Conditions of Employment
Minimum 21 years of age
Valid Colorado driver’s license and excellent driving record
High school diploma or GED
No felony convictions (including specified offenses)
Legal U.S. work eligibility (no sponsorship)
Completion of the Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training (six weeks)
Physical ability to complete defensive tactics and related tasks
Willingness to travel and work various shifts, including nights
TB screening required upon hire
