Client Overview Our client is an established apparel company specializing in Women’s and Men’s categories and is seeking a

Freelance Assistant Designer

with experience in sweaters or wovens. This team‑driven environment offers the opportunity to support the full design lifecycle and contribute to seasonal product development.

Salary / Hourly Rate $25/hr – $30/hr

Position Overview The Freelance Assistant Designer will support the Sweaters/Wovens Design team on day‑to‑day tasks, including creating CADs from hand sketches, developing tech packs, preparing trims and color cards, and assisting with line sheets. This role is ideal for someone highly organized, detail‑oriented, and eager to work across multiple stages of the design process.

Responsibilities

Support the Design team in all aspects of the design process from concept through final seasonal deliveries.

Create technical flats, assist with patternmaking/draping, and participate in model fittings.

Produce hand sketches and translate them into CADs.

Assist with seasonal concept research and development.

Create tech packs and help maintain line sheets.

Support material development and color sourcing.

Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes on revisions, fit comments, and updates.

Required Experience / Skills

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Knowledge of sweaters.

Strong attention to detail and organization.

Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

Woven experience is a plus.

PLM experience is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design is required.
