Description
We are seeking a Technical Writer to develop comprehensive operation and maintenance manuals for multiple machines used in manufacturing. This role is critical to ensuring timely documentation before machines enter mass production phase. The writer will collaborate closely with designers and engineers, review machines on-site, and create clear, user-friendly manuals for operators and maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed manuals (up to 60–70 pages) for machine operation and maintenance, including troubleshooting steps.
Work with design teams to understand machine functionality
Visit production sites to inspect machines, test functionality, and capture photos for documentation.
Explain system behavior and code logic in simple terms (e.g., handling bad part data, editing crucial fields).
Update and clean up existing documentation as needed.
Deliver documentation before machines hit mass production to meet compliance and operational requirements.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2 years in technical writing, preferably in manufacturing or engineering environments.
Technical Background : Familiarity with controls, plcs, robotics, mechanical machines, pneumatics, hydraulics, and general manufacturing processes.
Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word; ability to format and structure large documents.
Attention to Detail: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise instructions.
Photography Skills: Comfortable taking and integrating photos into manuals.
Availability: Full-time for approximately 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of PLC platforms and machine control logic.
Experience creating documentation for aluminum machining or battery-related equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
