Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) - Itinerant
Location: Mason & Tazewell Counties, IL (Itinerant - services provided at multiple schools) Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Follows standard school calendar with holidays and breaks) Compensation : Salary per Collective Bargaining Agreement
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide direct services and consultation to students with visual impairments. The ideal candidate will collaborate with school staff to support individualized education plans (IEPs), promote inclusion, and help students achieve their academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments Develop and implement IEP goals, objectives, and benchmarks Collaborate with district staff to integrate students into regular and special education classes Train staff in specialized methods and strategies for visually impaired students Conduct ongoing student assessments and provide progress reports Ensure safe and supportive classroom environments Participate in meetings, committees, and evaluation processes Maintain professional competence, punctuality, and adherence to ethical standards Qualifications:
ISBE PEL as Teacher of Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired Bachelor's degree Physically capable of performing essential job duties Eligible to work with students aged 3-22 New graduates eligible Benefits :
12 sick days, 2 personal days, 2 bereavement days per year $40,000 term life insurance for full-time employees Retirement/pension through Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Graduate tuition reimbursement (up to 6 credit hours per semester) On-the-job training provided
