Overview

The Grant Writer is responsible for the assessment, coordination, management, and reporting of private, corporate, state, and federal grants for Arrow and all its programs. The position includes researching viable funding opportunities and crafting compelling proposals and related content to communicate Arrow's mission and program impact to private foundations, government entities, religious institutions, and other grantors. The Grant Writer manages the full life cycle of every grant-from initial research and eligibility assessment through submission, award management, compliance monitoring, and final reporting. This role also maintains the organizational grants pipeline and collaborates closely with internal departments, including Accounting and Program teams, to ensure accurate budgeting, data collection, compliance, and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Assess eligibility and funding alignment for private, corporate, state and federal grant opportunities for Arrow and all program areas.
  • Coordinate, manage and monitor all grant processes, including research, proposal development, submissions, award administration, compliance requirements and reporting deadlines.
  • Draft clear and compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, budgets, grant reports, and related fundraising materials that persuasively communicate agency mission and programming. Tailored to funder priorities.
  • Prepare monthly grant pipeline and activity reports with updates on deadlines, submissions, award/declines, compliance status and upcoming deliverables.
  • Conduct national prospect research to identify new foundation, corporate, and government funding.
  • Work with development colleagues to ensure proper donor database management and maintenance of records.
  • Assist Director of Development in drafting, performance metrics, and funder- specific expectations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive deadline calendar and grants pipeline to ensure timely submissions, follow-up, and required reporting.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with program officers, funders and organizational partners.
  • Work collaboratively with development, accounting, and program staff to gather required data, financial documentation, and program outcomes for proposals and grant reports.
  • Support the development of short- and long-term fundraising strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of prospect research methodologies, grant compliance requirements, and fusing landscape trends.
  • Monitor, track and analyze progress toward annual fundraising and grant revenue goals.
  • Research and evaluate new potential funders m expanding Arrow's grant portfolio and maintaining relationships with existing partners.
  • Assist with special projects and represent Arrow at external events as needed.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
  • May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in the Social Sciences preferred. 2-4 years of grant writing and proposal experience preferred. At least 3 years' work experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or development.
