Senior Process Piping Designer Location: Mount Laurel, NJ (additional locations: Oradell, NJ; Atlanta, GA; Overland Park, KS; Seattle, WA; Boise/Hailey, ID; Houston, TX)

We are a leading professional services firm focused on the world's energy transition. Join our Power Generation Team to design and deliver high‑quality process piping solutions.

Responsibilities

Develop process piping models, equipment arrangements, and field verification on established and construction sites.

Apply standards, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for design accuracy.

Use 3‑D CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Hexagon CADWorx, SmartPlant) to create precise drawings.

Provide design assistance and quality control on medium to large‑scale projects.

Act as consultant on work progress, resolve design discrepancies, and oversee drafting support.

Lead drafting and design support staff on technical assignments when required.

Prepare multiple design iterations for engineering review.

Maintain documentation of project progress, issues, and contract compliance.

Collaborate with engineers and other technical professionals throughout project phases.

Use analytical techniques to solve complex engineering problems and update existing designs.

Coordinate with clients and contractors for drafting and design review meetings.

Provide guidance and training to entry‑level drafting support staff.

Keep current with latest drafting practices and industry standards.

Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and responsible decision‑making regarding resources.

Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or 7+ years of equivalent experience.

7+ years of design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

3‑D modeling experience using Hexagon CADWorx or SmartPlant.

Coordination model experience with Navisworks.

Strong analytical mindset and sound judgment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Self‑leadership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s policies.

Flexibility for schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Experience with P&IDs, orthographics, isometrics, general arrangements, and related drawings.

Field experience at power plants or refineries.

SmartPlant3D administrative experience.

CADWorx administrative experience.

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $98,300 – $175,230.
