The Creative Communications Coordinator is a key member of the External Affairs Department, helping to shape, elevate, and protect the voice of Meals on Wheels San Diego County. This role brings our mission to life through compelling visual content, storytelling, and digital engagement. The Creative Communications Coordinator develops graphics, printed and emailed materials, videos, social media content, and website updates that highlight the impact of our programs, support fundraising and volunteer recruitment, and strengthen our public presence across the county. The ideal candidate is a creative, tech‑savvy communicator with excellent design skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for improving the lives of San Diego’s seniors. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation & Design

Develop visually compelling digital and print assets — including social graphics, flyers, ads, newsletters, presentations, and event collateral — consistent with Meals on Wheels brand guidelines. Produce and edit multimedia content such as photography, short‑form videos, reels, and stories for use across digital campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and program storytelling. Set up, schedule, and publish content across social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube) using tools such as Hootsuite. Digital Communications & Website Management

Support ongoing updates to the Meals on Wheels San Diego County website, including story posts, event pages, landing pages, photos, and program updates. Monitor audience engagement and provide analytics reports to help refine strategies and optimize content performance. Storytelling & Mission Impact

Work with External Affairs team members to identify, pre‑interview, and secure consent from seniors, volunteers, donors, and community partners for storytelling projects. Assist with the development of narrative pieces—video stories, photo essays, impact spotlights—that highlight the experiences of the seniors we serve. Attend events, community activities, and program visits to capture photos, video clips, and quotes for mission‑driven storytelling. Fundraising & Campaign Support

Assist with the creation of donor‑facing communications, including appeals, newsletters, campaign graphics, report visuals, and stewardship materials. Support capital campaign, annual fundraising, and special events by producing visuals, social ads, signage, and event‑day media assets. Help maintain a consistent brand experience across all fundraising and outreach materials. General Communications Support

Provide on‑site photography/videography at events, meal deliveries, volunteer gatherings, and media activities. Respond to social media messages and comments in a timely and brand‑appropriate manner. Collaborate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to improve outreach, engagement, and brand visibility. Help maintain and organize the internal photo/video library and digital asset folders. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in graphic design platforms (Canva required; Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). Experience producing and editing short‑form videos for social media (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts). Strong photography skills and familiarity with basic lighting and composition. Experience managing website content (WordPress preferred). Ability to write captions, short stories, and mission‑aligned messages with accuracy and a positive tone. Strong understanding of social media best practices, trends, and analytics. Excellent organization and project‑management skills with ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. REQUIREMENTS

Standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Must have a valid California driver’s license. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting to approximately 35 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Must have reliable transportation.
