Overview The Senior Designer, In-Store will serve as a creative leader across all store‑focused initiatives, overseeing concept development, design execution, and production hand‑off. This role integrates strong 2D and/or 3D design capabilities to deliver visually compelling brand storytelling within the retail environment. Through the Senior Designer’s creative outputs, athletes will be informed and inspired along their purchase journey through diverse visual storytelling methods.
The Senior Designer will collaborate closely with internal teams across DICK’S Sporting Goods as well as key external partners to bring brand experiences to life across multiple mediums. The ideal candidate possesses a refined creative eye for design and photography, supported by the project management skills necessary to execute and implement a cohesive in‑store vision across all DICK’S Sporting Goods banners.
Job Duties & Responsibilities Creative Design Management and Execution
Own idea conception and implement strategic initiatives into designs for a range of in‑store environments. This includes new brand approach, from scratch environmental visions, utilizing visual and voice standards, activation ideas and tactical promotion to fully realize breakthrough creative that supports the brand vision and stands out.
Develop appropriate design solutions that may not exist within our campaign thematic and brand guidelines for the primary purpose of effectively elevating concept stores, store‑in‑store executions and new fixture development.
Partner and have excellent communication with Managing Producer, Photo Coordinators, Photo Studio Specialist and Digital Asset Coordinator to ensure effective and efficient photo productions. Responsible for the selection and requesting edits of photographic assets within design work.
Takes ownership, leads initiatives and successfully executes through all stages of creative development on target, on time and on budget on a variety of creative requests.
Project Management
Partner with and lead key vendors, freelancers and other support functions to ensure the success of each project from a timing, budget and quality perspective.
Drive the creative production process for in‑store initiatives, inclusive of art release with creative/design through approved channels, proofing of all signage components, including soft and hard proofs and prototypes where applicable, attending press checks, when necessary.
Develop timelines, reporting and accountabilities throughout the lifecycle of a project to ensure accurate and timely delivery of final creative collateral.
Cross Functional Partnerships
Participate in strategic discussions around creative positioning, trends and consumer behavior with our Merchandising and Visual teams by providing insight and opportunities. Articulate ideas, solutions and provide sound recommendations to secure alignment around strategic creative solutions.
Support and/or stand in for Creative Manager during internal meetings and reviews as necessary.
Act as a subject matter expert for other internal creative teams and champion process improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience Requirements
Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree – BS or BA in Art/Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
Level of Experience: 5‑7 Years in Retail, Marketing or Advertising with a proven track record of delivering creative solutions from concept to final execution. A strong creative portfolio required.
Technological Requirements
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Macintosh operating system.
Project management software (Workfront, At Task) – required.
Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Bridge, Illustrator, Photoshop.
Knowledge of the print process across digital, litho & silk screen.
Experience with Photo Art Direction.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
