Lead Mechanical Designer – HVAC Systems (NYC | In-Office)

About the Role As a Lead Mechanical Designer, you’ll take ownership of HVAC system design and coordination, mentor junior team members, and represent the firm at client meetings. You’ll work closely with engineers and project managers to deliver innovative, code‑compliant solutions for complex building systems.
Key Responsibilities
Independently design HVAC systems using company standards and templates
Perform load calculations, equipment selections, and mechanical room layouts
Create high‑quality schematics and trade‑specific drawings in Revit and AutoCAD
Review shop drawings, conduct field observations, and prepare reports
Represent the firm at project meetings and communicate with clients, vendors, and consultants
Mentor junior team members and support their development
Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project timelines
Must‑Have Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
7–10 years of professional experience in mechanical design
Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and attention to detail
