FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. It is an independent contractor 1099 position based in Reno, NV. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of each inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 4 days of assignment, typically 5‑6 minutes each.
Take 9+ photos and provide brief comments.
Complete a short form in the designated app.
Drive within the assigned county/territory for most of the day.
Maintain accurate reports of property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good mileage; gas paid by contractor).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check with a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can expect to earn roughly $30‑$40 per hour, working 2‑30 hours per week and completing 20‑500 inspections per month depending on county demand.
As a contractor becomes established and increases availability, earnings grow. There is no mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
