Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals in Reno, NV, to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.
Although experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, you must be able to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and operate a reliable vehicle.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. Inspectors verify property occupancy, report general condition via a mobile application, and take photos as needed. Most inspections are exterior only; approximately 10% may require interior photographs after vacancy.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5‑6 minutes.
Report findings within 4 days of assignment.
Assess general property condition and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Fill out a short form in the app.
Spend extended periods driving while making multiple stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage preferred; you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection pays a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can earn approximately $30–$40 per hour, completing anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties allow more work.
