FAR INSPECTIONS
Overview
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn a predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but you must manage time and meet deadlines. The role is based in Reno, NV, and FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5‑6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you will pay for your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate and rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour .
Depending on the county (urban or rural) you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
